How Brunch & Books came to be

Brunch & Books Founder, Ryan D’Souza, migrated to Australia in 2010 to study accounting. While studying he kept a job washing dishes at a busy Melbourne cafe. Having never worked in a hospitality environment before, it wasn’t easy going for Ryan. But, over the next few months, he gained a thorough understanding of the hospitality industry. As a result he recognises the challenges faced by restaurants, cafes and other hospitality businesses, from the inside.

After graduating and working as an accountant for a number of years, Ryan broke free of the mundane 9-5. Starting his own accounting practice catering to small businesses all over Melbourne. It wasn’t long, however, before he realised his real passion was working with the hospitality space.

As a result, Ryan began to focus more, and more, on hospitality businesses, learning everything he could that would help his clients. He now spends the majority of his time working with restaurant and cafe ownersRyan’s clients come to him because they are struggling with cashflow, paying too much tax, managing staff superannuation, reducing with employee turnover issues, and negotiating better supplier terms. By working closely with these businesses, pinpointing areas for reducing expenses, minimising tax and better managing employees and suppliers, Ryan has helps boost profits and quality of life.
